Northwest Herald: Chicago Bulls’ Bobby Portis to take part in basketball camp at Johnsburg

Local youth basketball players will have an opportunity to meet and learn from Bulls forward Bobby Portis at a two-day camp next month at Johnsburg High School.

The Pro Start 2S Basketball Camp, put on by Pro Start Sports, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 17 and 18 at the high school. Boys and girls players ages 6 to 17 may attend.

NBC15: UW honors Frank Kaminsky during game

It was a big night at the Kohl Center Thursday as the University of Wisconsin as the jersey of former Badger Men’s Basketball standout Frank Kaminsky will now hang at the Kohl Center.

Sports Director Mike Jacques spoke with Kaminsky Thursday afternoon– an interview only on NBC15.

Feb. 15 was officially named “Frank Kaminsky Night” in Madison.

The 2015 consensus National Player of the Year attended the Badger men’s basketball game against Purdue, and was there to witness the retirement of his No. 44 jersey during a halftime ceremony.

Badgers men’s basketball: Wisconsin will retire Frank Kaminsky’s jersey

The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball program will honor Frank Kaminsky by hanging his jersey in the rafters at the Kohl Center.

Kaminsky, who’s in his third season with the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, will be honored Feb. 15 during halftime of the Badgers’ game against visiting Purdue.

According to a news release, the No. 44 jersey will remain in circulation at UW. Kaminsky’s number will be the second to hang in the Kohl Center rafters, joining Ab Nicholas’ No. 8.

The University of the Wisconsin will officially retire Frank Kaminsky’s No. 44 jersey during a halftime ceremony on Feb. 15 during the Badgers game against Purdue.

 

The 2015 consensus National Player of the Year is currently in his third season with the Charlotte Hornets and will make the trip to Madison during the NBA All-Star Break to take part in the celebration.

Kaminsky’s jersey will be just the second number to hang in the Kohl Center alongside Ab Nicholas’ No. 8.

On Friday, Kaminsky — who was presented by ProStart Sports of southeast Wisconsin — was the star instructor in the Wisconsin Evolution Basketball Camp at Bradford Fieldhouse. Other notable local coaches at the camp included former St. Joseph star Brandon Morris, former Bradford standout Quardell Young, former Christian Life star Grant Johnson and recent Tremper standout Riley Keckeisen.
