Kaminsky gives back at youth camp

Frank Kaminsky was back in Southern Wisconsin this week, helping to run the ProStart Basketball camp with other former Badgers Sam Dekker and Ethan Happ. The camp is a 3-day event that teaches hoops skills to kids ages 6-18 at the Sports Enhancement Academy in Stoughton.

Kaminsky blocked some shots, signed autographs, and answered questions from the kids at the camp. He tells WKOW it’s important for him to come back each year.

“You can see the excitement and how much everyone enjoys having me, Sam and Ethan come back and do this camp,” said Kaminsky during the camp on Friday. “So it’s fun, too. It’s a lot of fun to come back and see the excitement and know that your name still holds weight in the place you left an impact on.”

This offseason, “Frank the Tank” signed a two-year free agent deal with the Phoenix Suns.  After being underutilized in Charlotte last season, he says he’s excited for the fresh opportunity.

“It’s gonna be great,” said Kaminsky. “I’m just excited to finally go there. You know, I tell everyone I didn’t get my fill of basketball last year. So I’m prepared for whatever comes next and I’m really ready to go there and prove what I can do. I just want the season to finally start. I just cant wait for it to start.”

While Kaminsky will open the 2019-2020 season in Arizona, Dekker and Happ are both slated to play basketball overseas.
